False Email, "Mail Server Upgrade" or similar subject
Posted by SITEWORKS SYS on 19 August 2010 11:04 PM

A new malicious type of spam has been reported by one of our clients (Oct, 2009).

If you receive a mail with Subject = Read carefully: Mail Server Upgrade or similar message
"Subject: For the owner of the e-mail account"

BODY MESSAGE might say something like this, "We are informing you that because of the security upgrade of the mailing service your mailbox settings were changed. In order to apply the new set of settings click on the following link:"

Please do NOT assume it has been sent by SITEWORKS.

If the body message mentions a server upgrade and asks you to click a link a run a patch file, do NOT do so.

It is a bogus message. Please delete promptly.
